Subaru-based kit car from Cornwall

Prodrive P2 Opponent?

The Impreza-derived Prodrive P2 prototype - seen at the Autosport Show last year - may not be going into production, but another British company has seized the opportunity to develop a super-quick high-performance car based on Subaru running gear. Adrenaline Motorsport of Newquay, Cornwall, has developed a kit car it calls AMS1 on the underpinnings of 1992-2000 donor Imprezas; these are stripped out to weigh just 1980lbs, down from the original cars’ 2970lbs. With the 2.0-litre, 260bhp engine, the AMS1 is good for 0-60mph in four seconds and a top speed of 150mph; an even quicker speedster version with no roof and a fly-screen in place of a windscreen will also be offered. Prices start from around £19,000, and delivery of cars to customers will start in the summer.
