i’m a mechanic at subaru and toyota and i drove both mitsu and sti ‘09 models
sti got me really horny just like the mitsu although i have seen the technical problems with the mitsu’s engin that the sti would never have
so what’s up with a car that breaks down every once and a while or a trusty car that beats ur mitsu’s white ass
my choice is made
STI!!!!!

All depends on what you consider stock. you cant really brag about an evo being a little bit faster than an sti on a straight when they’re from the factory. Evo comes with a front mount for crying out loud. Who knows how much difference that would really make, obviously it works since they constantly use fans for them on dyno runs. as for on the track? give the sti AUTOMATIC yaw control as well instead of just front to back and see how well the sti does against the evo. Until someone can do just this and compare….stop talking about stock this and stock that….oh my evo is better because it wins when they’re both stock. “even though it came with nos and the other car didnt” Get the hell outta here.
First, i’d like to know that if im going to spend that amount of cash, my car can take a huge beating for however i choose to drive.
Second, Evo transmission are weak as hell
Third Subaru has way more of a history of rally than the poser mitsu evo. Don’t believe me? I worked 3 years at a Mitsubishi dealership. Subaru’s interest has been with their customers for an awd and reliable performance car as well as a strong rally car. Evo owners saw that evo was faster stock and the parts were cheaper so they ran with it. When you graduate high school and get a better job than McDonalds, you can afford expensive but more RELIABLE parts for your car.
And finally, what true skill from a driver does it really take to drive an Evo?? Push a button so a computer can determine the rest of the work? Really? You must like everything easy with no challenge…

This immature fanboy argument is pathetic. I do love the STi, but I also admire the Evo for being such a rival to the car I love. Each is better than the other in certain aspects. Therefore, each car has its disadvantages. I’d be really happy with an STi, but I wouldn’t hesitate to settle for an Evo.

this will be an eternal debate, STi or Evo. i admittedly was shopping for a used evo when this beautiful silver STi came up in the listings after a test drive in the Subaru i was sold i’ve never driven a car that seamed so alive. it thrummed and roared nicely for a turbod car. and so far i have zero complaints. in the “off road” debate it truly is no contest, Sti loves loose environments and living in snowy Michigan its the perfect car for winter life. nothing like cruzing down the raod and leaving S10’s and Rangers spinning all day!

WRX STI can kick evo’s arse any day, i own a scobie and i dont regret a thing as y mate owns a evo and we are always compeaing. the other day we went to the nurburg ring and i kicked his ares.

he has trades his evo in to get a scobie now and he was a big evo fan so that tells you how rubbish evo’s are.

I want to say hello to all awd fans, i own a blue 2006 sti gold wheels. I love the car.
Evo and Sti are my two favorite cars, When I whent to buy one of the two it was almost like flipping a coin.

I guess what did it for me was the stronger transmition and clutch on sti(tougher would never brake) and the 2.5 litter motor on sti, made the diference for me.

My sti at 13 psi does 13.6 on quarter mile vs evo at 19 psi does 13.5 only one tenth of a second faster, meaning they will be side by side with evo winning by a half car.

I bought a boost controller from a friend 25 dollars, and turned the boost up to almost 17 psi and left evo9 by a hole car. So when i turn the boost up to 20 psi and get arround that factory set fuel cutoff with a simple ecu flash… I will be arround 320 at the wheels meaning almost 400 hp at the motor.

Evo won’t be even close. basicaly what I am trying to say is that, to keep the evo faster than sti you need to always be atleast 5 psi higher, meaning pushing that 2.0 harder than the sti’s 2.5 always.
And don’t let me drop a front mount intercooler on my sti… than there is no competition, you will be talking 7 psi more boost on evo than sti to be side by side.
I can proof every word i said, I have many friends that own evos i drive them, race them, i switch cars with my friends and sometimes they race my sti vs me their evo… but evo will do faster 0-60 off the dealer ship and turns quicker too.

When you’re saying good buy to $36K, you better know what you’re getting… Mitsu is junk compared to Subi, i want to see ya all mitsu lovers in a couple of years with 70% down the value and endless repairs. Subi is No.1 reliable ca in the US, Mitsu is worse then Chevy!

if you built the 2 cars nearly identical , Im talking suspension, same weight, same gearing, I have to say the subaru would be much quicker and faster. Just because of the much larger powerband.
